The second annual Oil Field Golf Tournament will be held this year at Glacier Park station. Sponsored by golf clubs of Cut Bank Shelby Chateau and Conrad, with Cut Bank as this year's sponsor and Chateau next year. A seven piece band will play evenings at the hotel and organizers expect a strong turnout. Attendees should contact C. D. McDonald or Al Hensley.

The Fish and Wildlife Service in Billings outlines Montana migratory bird season details for 1941. Open duck, goose, brant, and coot season runs Oct 1 to Nov 29 sunrise to 4 pm daily with various bag limits and possession rules. stamp requirements and gear restrictions apply. jacksnipe season closed. canvasbacks and ruddy ducks now unrestricted.
The Great Falls Municipal Band directed by Arthur Merrick will perform Sunday afternoon at 4 in Legion park. Home Oil Co will provide transport. Chateau residents are asked to provide lunch for the band afterward. Irshal Davis organized the visit and thanks Choteau residents for supporting summer band concerts.
The county superintendent of schools publishes the annual financial report for Teton County covering the year ending June 30 1940. Beginning July 1 1940 the district had 59450.91. receipts totaled 276225.85 and disbursements 217992.81 leaving 57451.54. Pleasant Ridge No. 74 showed a 4.25 deficit and Power led with a 9625.19 balance.
Continued rains over the past week disrupted harvesting in Pendray and Bynum areas while most of the county had finished. Cooler temperatures brought frost to some gardens and the Sun River vicinity, with residents noting light frost Monday night.
H M Daley reports active stocking of wildlife and fish in Te ton county. A state game farm truck delivered 450 pheasants with 150 released near Fairfield Chateau and Dutton. Earlier 35,000 native trout were released in the north fork and 35,000 in the south fork of the Teton.
Glacier National Park reports 2,972,998 trout planted in park lakes and streams in the fiscal year. Hatchery at Creston supplied the stock, mainly blackspotted, rainbow, and brook trout. Officials shift toward rearing larger fish for release to reduce fry cannibalism and improve survival.
Bicycle races for Teton county youths will precede the fair program on Saturday August 30 at 2 p.m. Four age groups include under 12 and 13 plus for boys and girls with cash awards from the Chateau Commercial club. Participants should register with Tom Dellno at Rice Auto Court. Novelty events include sack, three legged, egg, and potato races. A 4-H Power Snazzy Farmers vs Fairfield 4-H club baseball game follows.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church for Alfred Beans Blomberg who died from leukemia at Deaconess hospital Great Falls last Thursday. Rev Vick officiated with Banks Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were Loyd Austad Junior Austad Art Erickson Bob Dellwo Jim Dellwo Bob Harris. Burial was in the Choteau cemetery with several relatives from Craig Great Falls Fairfield and Fort Lewis in attendance.
Te ton County high school will sponsor defense training under the vocational agricultural department. Expert instructors will teach gas engines tractor repair elementary electricity and related trades. Courses expand into wood work carpentry metal work farm mechanics and power systems with local implement dealers aiding and basement shop relocation enhancing space.
The local lodge of Odd Fellows will hold its first meeting of the fall and winter season next Tuesday evening.
The Shell Oil Company sponsors a grand fireworks show at the AH County Fair with new pieces and the giant American Flag set. The display lights the city park Saturday at 8 30 with a 9 30 dance at the Legion pavilion featuring Karl Beverlin's Great Falls band. Admission to the dance is 55 cents for men and 30 cents for women.
A Sunday night head on collision on the Augusta road seven miles south of Chateau left Heck Stephens of Augusta with severe knee injuries, cracked ribs, and bruises after swerving to avoid a sleeper. He walked to Chateau, then returned to Augusta and was treated at Maynard hospital along with Dan Landre of Wolf Creek who, with his wife, was released after minor injuries. Stephens paid a $25 fine for reckless driving following the patrolman’s investigation.
Kenneth Boggy announces he has leased the Standard service station and now serves customers. He invites the motoring public to seek his guaranteed right service.
