The second annual county fair judged 636 exhibit entries from 234 exhibitors. Judges were Mrs Gladys Schulte and Ralph Clime. Winners span baking, crafts, sewing, and 4 H projects while prizes and thanks were given to local clubs and the Chamber of Commerce.

A Tuesday evening hailstorm severely damaged crops on several Fairfield area farms and blanketed fields with hailstones the size of hen eggs. By Wednesday morning the ground remained white with stones filling ditches in places and a preceding cold drizzle with strong winds preceded the storm.

The city pool closed after Labor Day reporting 6264 individual swims for the season. Attendance split into 3683 male and 2581 female swims. 1,008,000 gallons of water used. Class totals show Beginners 84, Intermediate 52, Junior Lifesavers 15, Senior Lifesavers 10, Advanced 8. Diving lessons reached about 650. City champions named across divisions include Bob Scott, Lawrence Burlingame, Virginia Sabo, Marie Marshall, Bill Wrixon, and Bud Hallberg.
The Choteau Woman's Club schedules its second annual roundup at the pavilion on Tuesday September 16. Members gather at 5:00 pm for a parade starting at 5:30 followed by a pot luck supper and roundup program. Prizes will be awarded.

The past week saw several licenses issued including Thos J Lowry age 48 and Myron J Anderton age 53 both from Anaconda plus Aug ane Hubert E Peters age 22 from Chateau and Betty Sabins age 19 from Dupuyer.
Martin Vigen age 51 was found dead in a creek behind his tavern on the north edge of town after missing since Saturday. An inquest returned a verdict of strangulation or drowning or both by unknown person or persons. Survivors include Lorraine Sack Vigen widow two children Pearl Viola and Martin Robert Jr. and multiple siblings. Funeral arrangements were not yet set.
Fred A. Healy vice-president of Curtis Publishing and advertising director of the Saturday Evening Post completed his 13th consecutive annual vacation in Glacier National Park. He reports above par fishing with rainbow and blackspotted trout in Two Medicine and Many Glacier lakes, noting his fly fishing has become proficient. Currently returning to Philadelphia.
