Man Outran Costly Team On Montana Roads In 1905
A bird named Hanson outran a horse team from Belt to Great Falls covering 22 miles in 1905. Swan of the Swede status, Hanson ran leg power to reach the city before Jack Collins of Great Falls, a master plumber and future county sheriff, could offer a ride. Hanson arrived ahead, eaten, and Collins later sold his prized team. Corette and Emery duel for Montana university and intercollegiate titles is noted, with Emery finally beating Corette in an intercollegiate final and Corette earlier winning university crowns.
