The Choteau flour mill reopens under W L Schnug and George H Schnug of the Chateau Milling Co with R H Bigham. It will produce Tip-Top flour, exchange flour for wheat with farmers, buy milling wheat, and offer seeds, bran, shorts, oats, barley, ground feed, and custom grinding. Electrical power was installed by Montana Power Co and the plant is upgraded for larger operations.

Burt D. Wells formerly of this city and Miss Elizabeth Fisher of Great Falls wed Saturday evening at the parsonage of Rev Will LeDrew Bennett in Glasgow. The bride, granddaughter of Mr and Mrs George W Bird of Great Falls, taught in Roundup and Billings schools. The groom, son of Mr and Mrs W D Wells, grew up here and later served in the CCC before joining Fort Peck staff. Margery Fisher was bridesmaid Harold M Newman best man. They will reside in New Deal Montana.

H E Steve Lindsey of Choteau Montana identified among four Phoenix Arizona plane crash victims. Lindsey described as 41 years old World War veteran and tavern owner, with widow and two small children surviving. The crash and fire killed all four men.

Bolen Couple Return to Make Home in Chateau
HH. L. Bolen, a local carpenter, brought wife Mrs. Bolen from Spokane, planning to rent an apartment and settle in Chateau. Mrs. Bolen is sister of Mrs. W. J. Earles of Pendroy. They departed Spokane Monday at 1 30 p m and arrived in Chateau Tuesday at 2 00 a m, twelve and a half hours later, weather blamed for delay.

Miss Gertie Stone, burned and hospitalized, aided by Lee Hamer and his daughter in a desperate attempt to save a child from a burning four room ranch house eight miles northwest of Bynum. Lewis Owens Laid to Rest in Chateau Cemetery
Funeral services were held Monday at the Episcopal church for Lewis Owens who died last Thursday at his home in the city. The Rev. B. M. Alstad led the service with Chas. G. Roberts directing. Interment followed in Choteau cemetery. Owens, born October 24, 1879 in Norway, lived in Teton county 22 years and owned a ranch west of Choteau. He faced years of poor health and died of internal cancer. Surviving are widow Carie Owens, two sons Birger and John, a daughter Lillian, and other relatives. Pallbearers included George Sabo, Lars Bjordal, C. A. Franks, Martin Hovde, Steve Snyder and Joe Dusak.

The Interstate Commerce Commission sets a hearing on rate reductions for drought stricken ranchers for August 31 at 2 p.m. in Helena state capitol house chamber. Commissioner Aitchison will preside. Street Oiling Program Expands After City Meeting
The city council approved expanding oiling beyond First street northwest after property owners on multiple streets urged inclusion. Residents on First street northeast want oiling due to heavy east side traffic and link to the Chateau-Dutton feeder road project. Mayor Burng will seek state highway input and call a special meeting as private funds were pledged for temporary oiling while federal work is delayed. Front ends of Second avenue southwest residents funded oiling between First and Division streets with more blocks possible. The first oiling shot was applied yesterday on First street with additional coats today.

LA visitors return after 19 years to Chateau
Mr and Mrs Merle D Smith and Mr and Mrs Sam Hayward from Los Angeles arrived last Thursday to stay with Mr and Mrs C C McDonald in Chateau. Smith is the former Miss Princes Mclean and is remembered by locals as McLean's daughter. Her brother Donald McLean also arrived. Smith's husband is California state manager for Standard Surety and Casualty Co. Hayward owns Hayward Lumber Co. of LA.
