Principal elect Dean arrived with his wife and son to take the post at Peon County High School. He comes from Mendota Illinois where he led a private school and has extensive experience in Illinois public schools.
The Teton County Board of Commissioners met in special session August 8 1912 with Commissioners Ryan Marsh and Clerk present. Actions included road fund apportionments damage settlements on Fincher road appointment of a new county health officer and various road surveys approvals and appropriations for the state fair exhibit and local road projects.
Walter L. Verge of Barr & Verge announces intent to run for state attorney general subject to the upcoming Democratic state convention.
A Great Falls hearing before Judges Ewing and Leslie led to a stipulation sending the county division dispute to the state supreme court. The key issue is whether electors must be actual residents of the new county at election time or merely qualified voters who registered at the last general election in the county. A fall decision is expected. meanwhile the Oct. 15 election date may be altered by county commissioners.
Professor Toan, former principal of the Taton County Uieth School, has been named deputy state superintendent by State Superintendent Harmon. He replaces G. A. Ketcham, who resigned to lead Missoula County High School. Voan spent summer in Boulder and underwent surgery. will teach as an institute instructor in Chateau next month. friends laud the appointment.
A prominent citizen urges renewed attention to thistle control as a public nuisance. Section 8872 makes it illegal to permit Canada Scotch bull or Russian thistles to go to seed on land under one's control and provides fines from five to fifty dollars for violators.
Work has started on large steel railway trestles to replace wooden spans over the Te ton and Muddy rivers at Collins. Machinery is on site, excavation underway, tracks laid for machines. The project will likely take two years.

A special meeting of the Chateau Fire company is set for Saturday evening Aug 24 to choose a delegate to the state renovention in Great Falls in place of Chief DeHans who cannot attend. BY ORDER OF THE CHIEF.

Teton County Montana officials meet as a board of equalization to review the 1912 assessment list. The session covers hearings on proposed raises, additions for Angus Minlayson Dan Ledgerwood Sherburne and Richard Waldin, and reductions for August Wropp Thomas W Luce J W Metinteht and Walier Montana Land & Water Co with adjournment sine die.
The North Montana annual conference at Fort Benton appointed the Rev Percy Reid McMahan as pastor of the Chateau charge. He previously served in Garnell and Harlowton and earlier in the Rock River conference in Illinois and is a Garrett Biblical Institute graduate. He is married with one child and is expected to arrive in Chateau within the week.
Fairfield reports a Saturday Aug 17 fire on the Hagen bench burning five grain stacks. A boy set a row between two piles which caused the wheat to burn. Residents note a heavy rain lasting about thirty hours improving ploughing conditions.
Job Russell, aged 78 and English born, father of real estate dealer Jas Russell, died Sunday after age related illness. He lived mostly in America, with early years in Ontario and Alberta, and two years near Choteau. Funeral held at his residence with HA Prescott in charge and pallbearers named. Burial in Choteau cemetery.
By direction of the county central committee a Republican county convention is set for Cut Bank Montana on September 3 1912 at 10 a m to choose 17 delegates and 17 alternates for the state convention and to transact other business. Primaries occur August 31 1912 from 2 to 6 p m at usual voting places.
The next regular examination for teachers certificates will be held at the courthouse in Chateau Montana on August 10 and 31, 1912. The same exams will occur in Conrad on those dates. Nectiz R. Brown superintendent of schools.
The sheriff will offer at public sale on September 11, 1912 at 2 p.m. at the courthouse front door in Chateau Leton County Montana the interests of L L Nash and The Minneapolis Threshing Machine Co in parts of sections 24 and 25 township 27 north range 9 west containing 242 46 acres more or less according to government survey.
