Lewistown takes diving. final individual scores list Choteau 259.5 Columbia Falls 191 Harlem 162. Fort Benton 150. Roundup 146.5 Malta 139 Whitefish 125. Relay points show Chateau 184 to Whitefish 76 and other teams. Dru Nordhagen earns high point for Chateau with three Federation records. Todd Curtis sets a Federation record in the 200 medley and places third in 50 free.

Huck Finn Day Held Sunday In City Park

Over 70 youngsters competed in the Jaycee Huck Finn Day at Chateau Park. Prizes went to Amy Weist and Kirk Wood in the costume contest. Kip Stenson won the largest fish in the fishing contest. Age group winners included Tim Price and Wendy Wedum, Danielle Weist, and Brooke Stenson among others. Kip Stenson also won the greased pig contest with donations noted from Russell Larson, the American Legion, Meadow Gold Dairy, and local merchants.

Former AFS student visits Choteau during Montana trip

German AFS alumnus Hartmutt Schmidt visits Choteau and the Arensmeyers where he stayed during the 1971 72 term. He reports plans to study physics and math in college, remains open to teaching, and praises the American Field Service program for personal development. He toured the U S and will spend time on the Gordon Mathison farm near Conrad learning farm life.

First Football Practice Set For Aug. 23

Chateau High School coach Rich Dean announced the first practice for the upcoming football season will be on Monday August 23 with two daily sessions at 7 am and 7 pm Players must have physicals before the first practice Dr Cannon physicals available by appointment at 3 each. Equipment issue dates are set by class: seniors August 18 juniors August 19 sophomores August 20 at 9 am freshmen August 20 7 pm.

Heart Monitor Fund Nears Final Quota

The Heart Monitor Fund rose by nearly 800 this week, reaching 12 148 54. Hospital Auxiliary thanks donors for the bake sale July 31 which raised 261 and memorials. Gifts came from Mr and Mrs Lee Revear and Mr and Mrs Les George, with many memorials in memory of numerous individuals.

Mini-Federation Swim Meet At Chateau Sunday

The 1976 Mini-Fed Meet closes the season as Chateau hosts the one day event on Sunday Aug 15 starting at noon and finishing by 8 p.m. About 100 swimmers from half of Westcentral's 21 teams compete in 62 events with 26 Chateau members entered. No diving contest. Awards include triple ribbons for first and second and medals for high pointers in 10 divisions.

Choteau Invitational Golf Tourney Winners Named

Winners announced for the Choteau Invitational golf tournament held Sunday at the Country Club. Men’s champion Don Munson of Conrad fired 73. Women’s champion Delores McDonald of Conrad shot 79, with runners up Pat Gustafson and Anita Dellno. Several flight and derby winners also listed, highlighting local players from Conrad, Choteau, Great Falls and surrounding towns.

Below Normal Precipitation Impacts Teton County Crops

Moisture at the Chateau station for July was 1.64 inches, totaling 5.22 inches for the year and 3.61 inches below normal. Despite the deficit, rainfall has been well spaced and beneficial to crops with very good yields expected in Teton County as harvest lags behind normal and starts soon.
