The official canvass of Teton county primaries completed last Friday by a three member board shows no changes in published results except for Spring Valley tally, boosting Scott Leavitt to 625 votes and Coffey to 563 over Magee. Magee, defeated for county attorney, may seek Democratic nomination. led Dems with nine write‑ins.

Referee Hurt In Shelton Monahan Bout In Chateau

Wellenstein of Pendroy took a blow to the eye and was knocked into the ropes after Monahan struck the referee following a fourth round foul that gave Shelton the decision. Monahan was fined 25 dollars for assaulting the official as chaos erupted. Shelton and Monahan prepared for another match while Wellenstein declined further disputes.

Crowd Enjoys Card at Chateau With $350 Receipts

Milwaukee grants emergency rates on carload sheep shipments

Emergency rates on carload sheep shipments to ease eastern Montana feed shortages have been authorized by Milwaukee. The rates apply to shipments from Milwaukee stations north and east of Harlowtown to Milwaukee west of Harlowtown in Montana, totaling a rate and a third on round trips of woolies for fall and winter feeding, effective now and expiring April 30, 1927.

Choteau Golf Club Wins Big At State Meet

Local golfers from Choteau joined Montana’s State Golf Association at Anaconda, defeating larger clubs in extra holes. Clinton Core took runner-up in the ninth flight and H J McGregor earned a handicap runner-up prize. Core also placed third in the junior championship, and McGregor shot 70 with a 17 handicap.

Larson on Board to Appraise Sun River Lands

Larson of Chateau, Republican state senate candidate, will chair a three member board with J. M. Burlingame and J. W. Huntsberger of Great Falls to set indemnities for property submerged by the Beaver Creek dam lake in Sun River canyon. They have surveyed the area including the Allen hotel, Steve Matthews place, and the old Bruce Neil ranch. A Great Falls meeting will fix indemnities once details are set.

Discharged firefighter blamed for blaze on Ahorn Creek

Five men on the Ahorn mountain firefighting crew were shaken loose as a blaze on Ahorn creek was traced to a half smoked cigarette stub. Authorities questioned the men but released them, while the main Ahorn fire stayed under control on the Flathead side with showers aiding suppression. The broader forest fire outlook remained dire with weather unfavorable and forest closures in effect across multiple districts.

Forest Access Restricted Amid Fire Crisis and Permits Required

Officials announce that the Kaniksu and surrounding forests will restrict entry to authorized personnel with special permits. Fire supervisor E H Myrick reports the fire area remains dangerous with thousands of acres still out of control, though it is presently under control and crews expect to hold until snow.

Fifty Couples Attend Masonic Picnic in Choteau

About fifty couples attended the Masonic picnic at Great Northern park in Choteau on Tuesday evening at seven. Attendees were Choteau Masons and Eastern Stars with their families, while other county members were invited but stayed away due to sudden cold. Suppers were served inside the Legion pavilion and a late dance followed.

Mrs McDonald Named To Complete Saylor Term

County commissioners appointed Eva McDonald to fill the unexpired term of Edythe Saylor as county superintendent of schools. Saylor resigns to become principal of Dutton high school. McDonald serves the last four months of the year.

Oldest Settlers Picnic Draws Modest Crowd at Chateau

About 100 attended the Teton's Oldest Settlers annual picnic in Great Northern park Chateau despite threatened weather and other county picnics. The program featured vocal solos by Mrs Julius Hirshberg and Miss Florence Trescott, plus old time songs led by B G Trescott and Chas Pierce. Mrs M M Webb accompanied. No sports this year. attendees socialized and renewed old acquaintances after the program.
