Returns from 16 of 17 precincts indicate Coffey won county attorney, Crawford county assessor, and Connor county coroner in the Republican primaries. Leavitt led Franzke in the congressional contest. Democrats saw light turnout with Mitchell unopposed for the state nom and few votes for other offices. The canvass begins tomorrow to finalize results.

Nineteen twenty six marked a banner Chateau Chautauqua six day run ending with Light Nin by Herbert Sprague. Gate receipts exceeded the guarantee by $27 and added about $100 to the local treasury after expenses. Twenty signers for 1927 contracts and 35 local underwriters secured Ellison-White for a ninth year. The program earned praise for musical ensembles and entertaining impersonations by John B. Ratto and the Musical Revue.

Chateau fixes 1926 city levy and sprinkling district tax
At the August meeting the city council set the 1926 city levy at 25 mills based on a $275 000 valuation and allocated funds across seven city funds. Sprinkling District No 2 tax is about $450 with Teton county contributing $35 for the court house circle. Delinquent date is November 20. The council accepted a 12 acre Hirshberg park donation and approved mayoral bonds and claims.

Rancher Loses 40 Tons of Hay in Sunday Fire
Grover Parker, a rancher from the Te ton river country northwest of Chateau, lost a 40 ton hay stack Sunday when a bonfire spread as he went to lunch. Wind shift fanned embers, igniting the stack as the fire line burned out while he was away.
