City council approves a budget of 72046.56 for July 1955 to June 1956 funded by 47 mills on a 1 032 599 real estate valuation. General fund 20 mills, streets 10, parks 1.5, airport 0.5, bond interest 15 mills. other revenues cover cemetery and garbage.
Chateau public schools plan to open Thursday September 1 with regular hours and buses. Ed Schiller announces a complete faculty including new teachers. The lunch program offers 20 cent meals payable in advance with no charges.
Mr and Mrs Alan Dea of Cascade moved to Chateau where he is named as a lineman for Montana Power Company assisting Enoch Stroh. He will work three months mostly in the Conrad Augusta and Fairfield area then in Chateau. Dea previously served as a Montana Power patrolman and city manager at Big Sandy from 1948 to 1962.
The Chateau Woman's Club hosts a summer flower show and tea on Saturday August 27 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Legion club rooms. The event invites public flower entries and raises funds for the Chateau public library, with a request for book donations as well.

In Justice William Irwin's court Harry C. Walker of Dutton paid 50 dollars for reckless driving and license lack. Others faced 10 dollar bonds or fines for violating basic rules, driving over center line, or speed limits. Floyd Bruno was convicted of Driving while intoxicated and fined 200 dollars, with an appeal filed.
Preliminary 1954 census figures indicate 84.2 percent of Teton county land is in farms and ranches with 1,001 farms listed. The report details crop, livestock, equipment, and ownership stats including 55,307 cattle, 24,494 milk cows, 59,656 chickens, and 804 trucks across 1,468,160 acres.

Barbara Zgoda daughter of Mr and Mrs Pete Zgote received a diploma and pin Sunday July 31 at the 57th commencement exercises for 31 seniors of the Columbus School of Nursing at Great Falls Diplomas were presented at Heisey Memorial by Majr James J Donovan president of the College of Great Falls Dr H H McGregor president of the Columbus Hospital Medical Staff presided and greeted the graduates Miss Zgoda will take her state board nurse examination in September and then join the staff at Teton Memorial hospital in Choteau.
The Montana Fish and Game Commission announced Split Rock Lake in Teton County near Choteau will be closed to fishing during the regular season. The lake will reopen September 1, 1955, through April 30, 1956, at the request of local property owners, a Commission spokesman said.
Marvin Wang formerly of Seemers Montana is now employed at Howerd's Carter Service. He is married and the couple live in an apartment in the Carl Malone duplex on Main Avenue. Wang has worked for Glacier Park Co. and a tie treating plant at Somers for years.
Fisheries report 40 000 fry natives released into Eureka lake along with 1 540 legal size Rainbow in Deep Creek and 560 Rainbow in Spring Creek. Iver Hoglund of Great Falls Hatchery and Stuart Myers led the operation for the Teton Sportsman's Association. A new boat released fish gradually over about three miles in Eureka lake. Plantings at Deep Creek and Spring Creek occurred Monday and Eureka Tuesday.
Seventeen local Girl Scouts will depart Friday at 1 pm for a week at Scouttana camp in Augusta with the Great Falls scouts. Transportation provided by the local council. Parents may visit Sunday with lunch and a picnic. Emergency contacts listed for Mrs. C. L. Abbott and Mrs. Ed Schiller.
Large Lions club delegation from Great Falls Dutton Fairfield Conrad and Shelby attended the Batemans Glenn Willow ranch event north of Chateau for a chicken dinner. Proceeds benefit local Lions pool and blind work. Music by Chateau band Ken Thompson accompanied the evening as officials from Lions clubs spoke and guests sang and danced.
Real estate, automobile and personal taxes charged to the county treasurer for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1955, amounted to 1,249,932.96, over the 1953-54 total of 58,860.48. Delinquency for 1954-55 was 61,312.04, vs 62,501.45 in 1953-54. Personal property collections for 1954-55 totaled 79,251.64, up from 64,867.16 in 1953-54, a full 100 percent collection. Motor vehicle taxes rose to 2,687.16. As of this date, 160 car and 106 truck licenses were issued, signaling a likely raise despite lower vehicle valuations.
