Counties Offer Aid For State Exhibit

All Montana counties contacted by Governor Roy E. Ayers to study a Montana exhibit at the San Francisco exposition plan to contribute to the exhibit's cost. An Associated Press dispatch from Washington dated August 6 reports that the Public Works Administration ratified Senator Wheeler of Montana and granted 45000 dollars to Fairfield Montana for the construction of a high school building.

Five Infant and Pre-School Conferences in County

An infant and pre school conference will be held in the Cho teau court room on August 27 from 9 to 11 a m for children up to six years. Dr R G Keeton will lead with nurse Hazel Andersen assisting. Free physical exams and smallpox vaccination plus initial diphtheria toxoid given with a second dose after three weeks. Do not bring ill children. Larson Urges Wool Growers Meeting In Helena

About a dozen purebred breeders and five Montana Wool Growers directors will meet in Helena on Monday to decide if ram sales will be sponsored this year. No ram sales have occurred since 1936. demand for bucks could prompt sales. If approved, sales dates and cities will be announced. The meeting, called by Sen. T. O. Larson, starts at 10 a.m. in Mrs. Kathleen Nielsen's Securities Building office.

Teton County Championship Meet Planned For Saturday

A Teton county swimming meet is scheduled for Saturday August 27 with afternoon and evening events and a divisional structure for senior and junior swimmers by sex. Stanley Smith pool manager announced a practice meet ahead to determine champions in Chateau with a five three and one point scoring system and medals for finalists.

Taxpayers Get Verdict Board Sets 1938 Tax Levies

The board of county commissioners in special session set 1938 levies including state county city school district high school road livestock and other taxes. Total county funds levy 32.42 mills plus 6 for general school 2 for state general 2.5 for university brings total to 42.92 mills, up from 41.5 last year.

Longtime Great Northern Agent Dies at Fort Harrison

David Anthony Reiquam 45 a Collins native and former Great Northern railroad agent for 17 years at Collins died last Friday in the veterans hospital at Fort Harrison from pneumonia and heart trouble. Born March 31 1893 in Brainard Minn he served with the 8th field signal battalion in World War I and was honorably discharged in 1919. He was past commander of Freeborn Post 64 American Legion and a member of various Masonic and York Rite bodies. Survived by wife Muriel and three daughters and several siblings, funeral services were held Monday at Great Falls with Dutton Masonic and American Legion honors.

Milwaukee to Resume Daily Train Service on Local Branch

Yogo wheat trialed by Teton County farmers

Local growers in Teton County begin experimenting with Yogo, a new hard winter wheat released by the Montana experiment station in 1935. Trials at Judith Basin and Bozeman show Yogo outperforming Turkey in winter hardiness and yield, with markedly less smut. Harvest in the Dutton and Diamond Valley areas shows strong yields. Choteau City Marshal Leaves for Patrol Training

City Marshal Thos Neely has a 30 day leave to join a Helena training school led by Captain Buddy Schmoke of the California highway patrol. Twenty three trainees attend, with ten named as conditionally selected to join and thirteen alternates including Neely. Chateau faces a marshal shortage during his absence.

Flower Show Under Way in Choteau September 5

Lovell Scouts Tour Chateau During Wyoming Motor Trip

Fifty four Boy Scouts from four Lovell troops visited Chateau on a Tuesday during a motor tour sponsored by the Latter Day Saints church. Eight adults accompanied the party including John Clark who worked here 26 years ago. The group headed to Glacier National Park and then Cardston Alberta to see sites including the L D S temple.
