Montana's July farm price index climbs to 276 percent of the 1904 14 base, up 8 from June and 33 above a year ago. Meat animals lead gains with index at 384, bees cattle at 24.10 per cwt, veal calves 27.40, sheep 10.90, lambs 23.40, hogs 22.20. Grain group rises to 246. wheat 1.99, corn 1.65, rye 1.01. Dairy slips slightly while chicken egg index up to 112. eggs 30.6 per dozen. Potatoes 1.80 per bushel. flaxseed and alfalfa seed fall. loose hay 18.70. milk cows 208 per head. wool 0.61. dry beans 5.70.

Seismograph Crew Expands Probe Northwest of City

Frank Newman Dies in New Orleans
Frank A. Newman, 59, longtime Pendrey and Chateau resident, died this week in New Orleans where he had been staying with his son for two years after a yearlong illness. The body is being shipped to Banks Funeral Home in Chateau for funeral arrangements to be announced.

The Teton county assessed value fell from 31 265 747 in 1949 to 29 500 472 in 1950 and the taxable value from 8 198 970 to 8 146 032. County Assessor James Dellno cited less wheat stored and fewer cattle as causes, noting Mangas Cattle Co lost 4 000 head. Public utilities and mines also contributed to the decline.

Hartvick Nelson Killed In Head-On Crash Near Brady
Hartvick Nelson 58, former Agawam area farmer and carpenter, was killed in a head-on collision on the highway north of Brady last Saturday afternoon. The 1950 sedan he rode in collided with a panel truck driven by Martin Hofland 60, of Brady. Kenneth Hayes 29 of Great Falls and Hayes wife and two children were injured. Nelsons funeral was at Chateau Trinity Lutheran church with Rev Maynard Iverson officiating. Burial followed in Choteau cemetery.
