Terrible Nitro Explosion Kills Two at Hard Rock Well
A blast at the Hard Rock No 1 oil and gas well, seven miles east of Collins, killed Charles DeWittie of Shelby and Harry White, injured three others, destroyed the nitro car and damaged equipment. Coroner and sheriff investigated as relatives prepared to collect remains with a company based in Great Falls.

Scholastic Contests Set for Saturday Across Teton County
The first annual meet for Teton county schools is held Saturday with two sections: a dramatization contest for fourth grade and silent reading, spelling, arithmetic, and Montana geography for grades 5–8 at the county high school. About 200 to 250 pupils from roughly 40 schools are expected, with rules sent to teachers and medals and cups announced for top performers. Duton currently holds the city cup and Lake Basin No. 1 holds the rural cup. three consecutive wins are required to retain permanent possession.

Mrs Sidney Campbell Dies Sudden On Hospital Stay
Mrs Sidney C Campbell wife of farmer Sidney C Campbell of Blackleaf died at Chateau Hospital about 10 last night after several weeks illness. She leaves six children Eloise Austin Margaret Evan and Eunice, her husband, parents Mr and Mrs A W Hood of Helena, two sisters Mrs H B Williams and Mrs Jack Goldberg of Helena, and other relatives. Burial will be in Ghoteau cemetery with funeral date pending.

Joe Liberty Dies From Heart Failure in Montana Ranching
Joseph I. Liberty prominent Teton county ranchman and oil promoter died Friday night of heart failure at about 11 o clock while at home with his family. Born September 19 1868 in Fond du Lac Wisconsin he worked cattle and sheep from Geyser to Chateau area. He promoted Willow Creek drilling and held oil interests in Kevin Sunburst fields with funeral at C H Connor chapel and burial in Chateau cemetery.

City cemetery beautification underway with new entrance and trees
The city undertakes a major beautification of the cemetery led by Engineer John Hall and John Moore. About 150 trees planted this week with 400 to 500 total planned, plus rose bushes and Black Hill spruce. A central northern entrance, curved drives, a fountain, and a soldiers section are planned, with expansion possible by acquiring adjacent ground and moving the tool house to improve appearance.

Local Shoemaker Has Auto Accidents Near Fairfield and Conrad
