Stockmen Favor Reducing Elk Herd To 2500 Head

Texas-Pacific Enters the New Pondera Oil Field
Texas-Pacific Co has entered the new Pondera oil field with a lease on 400 acres owned by George Hirshberg of Minneapolis formerly Chateau and Conrad. La Rue Smith of Great Falls leads Montana operations and drilling has begun on the Hirshberg well in section 14 township 27 north range 4 west two miles east of the discovery. Power for drilling will come from Montana Power Co within 80 rods of the site. If productive, the well could extend field boundaries and open territorial expansion beyond current limits.

Child of Nine Years Is Victim of Pneumonia
Olga Louise Carlson, eight years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Carlson of Fairfield area, died last Saturday at 1 pm at home after an eight day illness from pneumonia with flu complications.
