Shelby High School wins the Choteau Acantha trophy with 36 points in a two team meet held last Saturday. Jim Lohse of Chateau tops individual scoring with 19.5 points, and Wayne Gibson of Shelby sets a pole vault record at 11 feet 1 inch. Other top scorers include Mike Cleveland of Shelby and Rex Rieke of Cascade among several schools.

A housing committee of five men was named by President George Eichhorn at the Tuesday noon Choteau Chamber of Commerce meeting. The group will seek housing for oil company personnel expected to move in for drilling, and may also locate office and warehouse space and vacant ground for pipe yards if needed. The meeting also discussed petitions for a re hearing of a truck line through Choteau from Great Falls to Kalispell.

Pre School Roundup Slated Early in May
The annual pre school roundup will be held early in May at the new grade school. Parents must show birth certificates and children will receive physical exams and required shots with a small service fee. Eligible parents will be contacted by mail per Principal Robert Gormley. those not reached should call the grade school. To enter kindergarten by fall a child must be five by Oct 15 1958 or six for first grade. Mrs Clint Stillman visited Helena last week with Mr and Mrs Lee Phillips.

The 1954 Census reports 952 farms in Teton County sold products valued at 12,063,582 dollars. Crops accounted for 9,022,275 and livestock and products for 3,041,297. State totals show Montana farm sales over 339 million with Chouteau leading at 24.84 million. Net income trends from 1950 to 1954 show a sharp decline.

April Jury Term of District Court Sets 13 Trials
Thirteen civil and criminal cases are scheduled for trial in the April term before Judge R. M. Hattersley. A panel of 60 jurors is summoned for possible jury duty. Trials span April 30 to May 4 with cases including fraudulently issued checks, driving while intoxicated, receiving stolen property, first degree assault, and delinquency of minors. Civil matters involve eviction and attachments, with several damages and account suits also listed.

Funeral Services Friday for L. L. Dawson in Augusta
L. L. Tex Dawson, an Augusta horse trainer and World War I veteran, died Monday night at Fort Harrison VA Hospital. Funeral services are set for Friday at 2 pm at Augusta Community Church. He was born in Mendoza Argentina and moved to Augusta in 1908 with Texas roots. He served overseas in an engineering unit and belonged to the Augusta Post of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Orpha Bergeron, whom he wed in 1953.

Seven Chateau FFA members plus adviser attended the 26th Montana Association Leadership Conference in Bozeman. Delegates Leif Larsen and John Carlson led the session. Ronnie Eklund, Jim Beadle, and Charles Crane formed the competitive events team. Bronze honors went to grain and range and to chapter farmstead beautification. Crane earned multiple top individual honors including third high overall and gold in grain and range. The group returned Saturday with Larsen attending an officer training for new state officers.

Oldtimer Arthur Pressley Nett Dies at 90 in Augusta
Funeral services were held in Augusta for Arthur Pressley Nett 90 who died April 12 from a cerebral hemorrhage at Teton County Rest Home Choteau. Nett born Hannibal Missouri April 25 1865 moved to Montana in 1882 later ran a livery in Augusta. He married Bessie Clemens who died in 1921. Survived by three sons and seven grandchildren. Burial in Augusta cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
