Beds Arrive for Teton Memorial Hospital Opening

Nine hospital bed sets have arrived at Chateau for Teton Memorial Hospital. The initial shipment covers nine beds dressers and over bed tables of the 25 needed. Remaining items including furnishing and technical equipment are expected soon as the project progresses toward opening.

Oral Zumwalt To Produce Choteau Rodeo

Augusta based promoter Oral Zumwalt has contracted with the Choteau rodeo committee to present the annual event in Choteau on July 3 evening and July 4. Zumwalt, now focusing on large shows, recently bought an Idaho producer and will launch his big rodeo circuit with a Las Vegas unit starting May 3.

Chuintet Plans Gulf of Mexico Fishing Trip

Five Chateau Isaak Waltons members set for a warmouth fishing expedition starting Sunday with flight to Guaymas aboard a twin engine Cessna piloted by Bob Waltermire of NAAC. The group expects a one week return. In Great Falls, Mr and Mrs Joe Darby announce the birth of a son on April 18.

PMA Warns CCC Loan and Agreement Settlements Due

Teton county farmers must decide on CCC settlements with April 30 maturity for 1950 crop loans and purchase agreements. PMA chairman Jake Luinstra outlined redemption options and noted that unpaid loans will transfer title to CCC on May 1, with CCC paying the farmer any market excess over loan value if applicable.

Girl Scouts Seek Financial Help for Activities

The Choteau area Girl Scouts plan fundraising letters mailed this month to local residents to support more winter sports and constructive supplies. With 83 current scouts, events include a court of awards birthday banquet and summer camp, while 40 new brownie girls will join this fall increasing costs and leaders needed.

Herb Tangen Wins State Farmer Award

Herb Tangen son of Mr and Mrs Gregor Tangen of Farmington was named state farmer at the Future Farmers of America convention in Bozeman last week. He began FFA work at Chateau high school, with supervision by Fred Swingle, and now owns nearly 4000 dollars in farming. The selection reflects his supervised program, farm investments, leadership in FFA and community service. Chateau attendees included Bob Dauwalder Cloyde Stott and Dick Dauwalder Bow Clark.

Great Falls Electrics start the 1951 season next Tuesday at Legion Park against the Billings Mustangs weather permitting. They play two nights at home then two at Billings with KMON and Herb Hunter broadcasting all games. John Victor Linjattie dies rancher of Deep Creek area

Services were held at Choteau Methodist Church for John Victor Linjattie a Deep Creek rancher who died Saturday at Choteau hospital after a long illness. He was born in Lapua Finland came to the United States in 1898 and settled near Choteau in 1914. He married Ida Friend in Finland in 1912 and survived by his widow two sons Anne of Choteau John of Helena and daughter Mrs H K Elizabeth Burch of Great Falls. Three children Gabriel Irene and Sylvia died earlier and four grandchildren survive. The Rev H L Engdahl officiated with pallbearers Archie Hodgskiss Howard Higgins George Morris O G Meadows Oscar Carlson and J I Burch Interment followed in Choteau cemetery.

Census to tabulate family statistics April survey announced

District Supervisor Maloney announced the Census Bureau will conduct the current population survey in April to obtain up to date national figures on family characteristics income and migration. The survey samples 25 000 families nationwide including many in Teton county and will show income brackets changes since 1949 1950 and mobility tied to defense programs.

Dutton High Names Arlene Odden to Girls State Delegate

Arlene Odden daughter of Mr and Mrs Allan Odden of Dutton is chosen as a Girls State delegate from Dutton High School to attend in Billings in June for leadership and scholastic merit. She is head twirler and a top cheerleader with club offices. The trip is sponsored by the Dutton American Legion auxiliary. Roberta Munroe is an alternate. Odden recently recovered from a car accident near Great Falls.

Inez Simon and Ralph Larson Wed in Choteau Nuptials

Inez Simon, a Teton county public health nurse, and rancher Ralph Larson were married April 7 at Choteau Methodist Church with Rev. H. L. Engdahl officiating. More than 200 guests attended as June Simon served as bridesmaid and Frank Davis as patron. The couple plans a short wedding trip to Flathead Lake.

Youth in Accident Progressing Well

Dean Baker a Chateau second grader injured in a car pedestrian crash during a fire call is progressing well. He has a broken arm a cracked leg bone and a concussion but head injuries are not serious and he wears a walking leg cast and an arm cast.

Business Men To Discourage Ad Promotions In Choteau

Choteau chamber of commerce members plan a mutual agreement to discourage ad promotions that mainly benefit non residents. At Tuesday meeting cards listed discouraged selling projects including dances shows hotel blotters schoolbook covers calendars and farm directories. A secret committee will screen applicants and approve only satisfactory promotions with a formal letter. others will be refused.

District Legion Meeting Set At Sun River

Legionnaires and auxiliary members from Chateau will attend the annual spring meeting of district No. 8 of the American Legion at the Ramblers Inn in the Sun River valley this Saturday. District Commander William L. Andrews of Fairfield will preside as resolutions are prepared for presentation to the state department at the summer convention. State commander W. W. Barnam of Butte and state adjutant Herb Kibler of Helena will attend. A discussion of the 1951 Boys State is also on the agenda.
