Nine Trustees Could Join Choteau High Board Under SB 120

The Choteau high school district may expand to nine trustees after this month with four from rural districts. The parent district will decide to accept or reject the extra members. SB 120 allows a five member Choteau board plus four outside trustees for three year terms, chosen from 10 districts at a Choteau meeting on April 28.

Choteau Track Wins First Duel Meet At Home

Choteau racks up 74 points to Belt with 31 as Dale Johnson leads with 14 points and Leonard Blixrud sets a local quarter mile record at 57.5 seconds. Belt’s Bissel also posts a 220 yard dash record, while Fairfield Walier Browning and Choteau are invited to next Friday’s meet at 2 p.m. on the local field.

Magazine Salesman Promotes Good Cause for VEW Post

Bernard J. Dangler, a magazine and subscription salesman, covers Teton county for a VFW post and pledges to raise funds to equip the Teton Memorial hospital. Olsen Rites Held in Chateau for Longtime Resident

Funeral services were held Monday at Chateau for Thorwald William Olson 86 a longtime Teton county resident who died last Thursday in a Great Falls hospital. He was born in Drammen Norway May 25 1864 and came to the United States at age 14. He lived in Chicago Denver and Choteau where he and his family settled in 1903. Survived by widow Anna two sons Oscar J and William F. daughter Anna I Sheble. a nephew and eight grandchildren. Memorial gifts were made to Trinity Memorial chimes fund. Burial was in the Choteau cemetery.

City Band Plays At Lions Club Meet

The city German band entertained the Chateau Lions club at Lions club hall with marches polkas waltzes and overtures. Dr C W Boussard led a trumpet sextet in a special arrangement and many encores were requested. Lions program chairman was Robert Zion. Guests included Herb Langey Robert Holt Sr Don Sealy and Jack Licom. An Eagle scout court of honor is set for April 23 at 7 30 p.m.

Cattle Purchases Noted from Bozeman Winter Fair

Nick Vlinker a Chateau stockman paid 3000 dollars for a registered Hereford at the Bozeman winter fair. Savik and Larson ranchers from Bynum are reported to have paid for a prize winning Hereford.

Montana Power Moves Choteau Office to New Location

The Montana Power Company will relocate from the Larson building after 20 years to the Choteau Electric store. Frank Stearns, Choteau manager, announced the move and said operations will be conducted from the new site after April 16.

Junior Square Dance Sponsored by Golden Ridge 4 H Club

Merrick Named Five State NEA Official

Nellie L. Merrick principal of Chateau elementary school was elected secretary of the Northwest Elementary School Principals association at its fourth regional conference in Spokane. The NEA group includes Washington Oregon Utah Idaho and Montana. Attendance at the Inland Empire Education association convention exceeded 3000. Miss Merrick said the meetings were worthwhile and thanked the local school board for cooperation. Montana principals will arrange next year’s Spokane conference program and a large Montana delegation is expected.

Ruth Janet Knutson and Robert J. Brumwell united in marriage at Dutton Lutheran church in a candlelight ceremony. Power School Awards Building Contracts in Great Falls

Beaufaurier and Son of Great Falls won the $108 606 general contract to add a gym and classroom at Power School. Teton Plumbing and Heating bid $23 044 for mechanical work, Goggins and Penney submitted the electrical bid at $4 879. Bernard Toenges elected school trustee as 116 ballots were cast.

Magpie Hunt Set to Start This Sunday
