A meeting is hereby called to permanently organize a commercial club for Choteau and vicinity. It will be held in the courthouse at Choteau at 8 p.m. on Friday April 12, 1912, by order of the committee.
In Elizabeth area Deep Creek near the old post office two Bushman children die from cerebro spinal meningitis. A third child is severely ill. The first death on March 29 was misattributed to a fall from a horse. the physician confirms meningitis as the cause. No further cases reported locally.
The piece notes Taft favored by many states with Roosevelt gains in Illinois primaries. Alaska outlines a 2500 pound copper ball exhibit for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition to San Francisco. Fairfield residents Mr Betts and Mr Culver traveled from Spring Valley toward Great Falls Monday. George and Rose Carolus visited Sunriver and Chateau in their new auto Sunday. Ruth Young and Anna Farnum returned to Great Falls Sunday after Easter with H F Young and family. The farmers announce a central schoolhouse meeting on April 14 at 2 PM.
The Attorney General holds that Teton County commissioners cannot submit the county seat relocation on their own. Electors may move the seat under existing law. The 1911 permanent seat act does not apply. Commissioners must submit a $100,000 coupon bond issue for bridges and highways for voter approval with the purpose stated in the election notice.
Roy A. Oliver and Mises Margaret McDonough, both of Augusta, were married Wednesday in the clerk of the court’s office by Justice Sterling McDonald. Both are well known in Augusta, and Mr Oliver has considerable local acquaintances.
The Acantha notes persistent reports from various sources that a survey party is outfitting in Great Falls for a survey through the Veton Pass. No verification exists, as railroad surveys are highly secret until launched and their aims are often unknown. The paper hopes the report proves true.
The Republican county central committee is called to meet in Chateau on Friday April 26. Chair May H. R. Thompson issued the call this week. The Acantha has not been informed of the meeting's agenda.
Governor Norris attends the Jefferson Day banquet in Chateau with Senator Whiteside and other dignitaries. The event, held at the courthouse and banquet hall, features talks on state resources and road improvement. Norris shocks by announcing he will not seek future office.
