Eight Choteau boys traveled to Bozeman for the state FFA convention from April 6 to 9. Delegates included Bob Reiquam and Leif Larsen with others attending livestock judging farm mechanics and grain judging. Nick Tonsayer played in the statewide FFA band. Reiquam placed bronze in public speaking, Blixrud bronzed in Star Beef Farmer. A tour of the W. H. Harrer Green Meadow ranch in Helena showcased purebred Aberdeen Angus stock and a Swiss hand crafted barn.

Nearly 1,700 students and 27 bands participated in the district music meet held in Great Falls last Saturday. Sixty five Chateau high students entered events with strong results including Marie Vane earning top ratings for piano and clarinet. Director Orvis Stenson called it a long yet enjoyable day and plans were made for local students to attend All State events and Missoula festival, with Havre Chamber Band day on May 8.

Fire Destroys Bert Corey Farm Home Interior
A blaze attributed to a defective light plant heavily damaged the Bert Corey farm home in the Collins area yesterday afternoon. Mrs. Corey spotted the fire at about 3 p.m. and summoned help from Dutton. Deputy Sheriff Dick Beyl, Dutton firefighters, and Cheteau rural fire truck responders joined Sheriff Peter son and local residents to battle the flames. The log structure burned in high west winds, leaving about three inches of water over the floors after extinction. Damages to the house and contents were substantial but an estimate was not available.

Tragic Pendroy Electric Accident Kills Marlin Rose
Pendroy farmer Marlin H Rose died Saturday night when a portable TV antenna touched a high tension line as Chick Sulgrove and Bernard Stelling attempted to set it. Rose was 38, born in New Munich, and his funeral drew hundreds to St Joseph's church.

VFW Minstrel Show Dates Set for April 27 28
Rehearsals underway for the 1954 VFW minstrel show by Howard E. Anderson Post 4605 and Atdi nery on April 27 and 28. Three acts include an old-fashioned circle with four-part choirs soloists and a magic act by William Bill Haney famed Glade Falls magician. Delegates included Bob O Nell Master Councillor Jack Peterson Senior Councillor Jim Beadle Marshal all from Cho teau and Gene Nett of Augusta. The event ran Thursday evening to Saturday night with a ball and a plaque for 100 percent meeting attendance.
