Voters approved an 85,000 bond to fund a Chateau high school gymnasium with 483 yes and 110 no. District results show broad support except in IvaRan No 12 and Sunny Slope No 62. The levy for maintenance and operations also carried, with 429 to 167 for the high school levy and 225 to 7 for the grade levy.

City to create street sprinkling district for Choteau
The Cha teau city council unanimously approved first and final reading of Ordinance No. 123 creating a city wide street sprinkling district for oiling streets. The district will be funded by area based assessments on parcels excluding streets and alleys. The council will define boundaries and apportion costs with the attorney, and the engineer will review oiling plans.

Youth Recollection At St John Church Fairfield Draws Teens
About 60 teenagers attended a day of Recollection at St. John’s church in Fairfield last Sunday conducted by Father Bernard Sullivan of Anaconda. Talks on practical Christian living were stimulating and the exercises ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Father Thomas Fenton celebrated Mass and Holy Communion for the students. Attendees included Chateau Power Dutton Augusta Pendrey and Fairfield youths. The St. John’s Altar Society ladies provided lunch.

Severe cold wave grips Montana with record lows
