Dead Letter Figures in Washington March

During March over 85 000 pieces went astray in the mails and the dead letter office recovered 4 193 dollars for senders. More than 1 000 000 items lacked return directions, about 80 000 more than the prior year. Postmaster General Hitchcock uses the figures to oppose reopening to print return cards on government envelopes.

The Collins hotel has changed hands again and is now Brooks and Steele. Mrs Hurley and I have moved to Great Falls. Miss Cora Syce, visiting Farmington, returns Tuesday and plans to go to Wilmar Minnesota soon. Regnam relatives from Brainerd and their aunt Mrs Sandberg visited last week with two other land seekers. Nassett and wife from Farmington called Tuesday. Church services were held at the schoolhouse Wednesday evening. J C Ferris, recently at the Ferris ranch, returned to town Monday and is reported to be under the weather for some time.
