Sturgis reminds farmers the April 6 deadline for Soil Bank Conservation Reserve contracts with signing effective by April 15. The program offers up to 80 percent cost coverage for approved practices and annual rental payments for the contract term. Nationwide, 35 million acres are enrolled as of February. Eligible signatories could gain about 29.7 million dollars annually plus 21.4 million dollars for conservation setup. Farmers should visit the County ASC office for details.

Speaker Reports State Science Fair Results for Choteau
High School science instructor Al Finley told the Choteau Lions Club that Choteau students received eight state science fair awards, tying with Livingston Kalispell and Bozeman for second most among 38 schools. Easter Lily Sale Details Set for Saturday
Officials of the American Legion Auxiliary announce the Easter Lily sale will be held this Saturday April 13. Girl Scouts will offer the lilies as a community service project to raise funds primarily for the new Crippled Children's Center in Great Falls.

Last Rites Held Here for H. Tordal
Last rites were held at Trinity Lutheran church for Halvor Tordal aged 71 who died of cancer April 3 at Teton Memorial hospital. He was born in 1886 in Tordal Norway and immigrated to America in 1907. Survivors include his widow two sons a daughter and several siblings. Burial followed at Chateau cemetery.

Floyd Marr and Gradon B. Green of Choteau assumed operation of Bill's Texaco station on Main Avenue last week. Bill Bateman, retiring lessee, had managed since August 1 1940 after taking over from Leigh Nett and the Texaco station was rebuilt in 1950 with a 30 by 50 plan and a two bay tube room. A fire March 22 1951 caused substantial damage to the building and equipment.
