Wm H Meissner 61 was found Sunday at his ranch home 12 miles northeast of Fairfield by his brother Ernest Meissner. Goroner G L Banks says he shot himself with a .38 revolver bought in Great Falls last week. He left a note to his brother and funeral services were held at Banks Funeral Home with cremation at Great Falls Mausoleum. Born March 28 1881 in Berlin he came to the U S as a youth to Millerville Minnesota.
Pendroy Mary Elizabeth Briggs died April 2 at Maynard hospital after a years long illness. Funeral services were April 6 conducted by Rev. R. F. Vick, Banks Funeral Home in charge. She was born May 10, 1859 in Chickasaw Iowa and lived in Teton County since 1910. Survivors include son Paul Briggs of Pendroy three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The War Production Board ordered a halt to sale shipment and transfer of all new adult bicycles from midnight April 2 to conserve vital materials. Defense workers get first call for bicycles while civilian need is second, with future production tied to essential needs.
The Legion Auxiliary will meet in the basement of the Lutheran church Monday night April 13 at 8 o clock. Mrs. Raul Kropp Mrs. Nyhus and Mrs. R Ferris will entertain.
The St. Joseph’s church dedication occurs Sunday April 12 at 4 p.m. by Bishop Joseph M. Gilmore of Helena. He will consecrate the marble altar top slab, with Rev. J. J. Connolly to preach. Parish name changes from St Luke’s to St Joseph’s to honor donor Joseph A. Baart. Groundbreaking July 8, 1941, first Mass Easter Sunday 1942.
