The proposed Choteau High School gym would seat 2500 with 750 permanent bleachers per end and 1000 folding bleachers total. It calls for pumice blocks, a future stage, and an $85,000 bond election on Saturday April 3, with $58,000 net after prior collections and repairs. Chateau Chapter FFA boys braved winter weather to attend the Glacier District FFA convention in Valier. After an 8:30 departure and a long delay due to zero visibility, they reached Valier around 1:00 PM and joined events in live stock judging rifle shoot farm mechanics meats identification grain and forage judging FFA knowledge tests and parliamentary procedure.
Elmer KR Propp of East Base forfeited 10 dollars on March 27 for careless driving in Justice Sulgrove's court. David W Balshaw paid 10 dollars for disturbing the peace on March 29 in the same court. Boon Ochitani paid 80 dollars on March 27 for reckless driving. No cases were tried in Justice Irwin's court. Dante Jude Irwin remains confined at home due to illness since last Wednesday.
The annual Young Timers banquet, entertainment and dance will be held at the Moose Hall next Saturday night. The committee says a sellout is assured with plans for a very good show featuring notable performers.

Peter O Nasse 88 Teton County old timer died Tuesday afternoon at a Great Falls hospital after several months illness. Funeral planned in Fairfield St Pauls church Rev E E Tollefson officiating. Survivors include nephews Oscar and John Richem of this city. Burial details to be handled by Banks Funeral Home Chateau Don Schrock transferred from Lackland Air Force Base to Great Falls Air Base after an accident leaving two fingers lost.
Chateau High School music department presents Spring Festival concert in the auditorium Friday April 2 at 8 p.m. Includes band chorus girls ensemble clarinet trio brass sextet and soloists. Programs also list pieces to be performed at the Great Falls District Music Festival on April 10. Pieces include March Men of Music March Con Brio Carnival Suite Hot Time in Brasses and Twelfth Street Rag.
Mary Ellen Burns will chair the 1954 Easter Seal campaign in Chateau for Cerebral palsy and other handicaps. Local Girl Scouts and American Legion Auxiliary members will run a house to house drive on Saturday April 3 selling lilies made by handicapped workers. March 1 readings at Waldron Creek tallied 34.4 inches snow and 9.6 inches water. April 34.0 and 12.0. West Fork 6,000 feet: 62.3 inches snow 20 inches water in March. 61.5 inches snow 24.8 inches water in April. Fright Creek 6,000 feet: 68.8 inches snow 21.2 inches water in March. 73.2 inches snow 25.3 inches water in April.

Brig. Gen. C. H. Chorpening, longtime corps of engineers officer, receives new Far East Command assignment. He will report to Travis Air Force Base, California, on April 5, 1954, to assume duties in the Far East. Born in Waterloo Iowa, he is a West Point graduate from 1918 and has held key civil works roles in Washington. His wife is Mary Sulgrove of this city.
Chateau Mont ana records sub normal temperatures for four to five days with Sunday morning lows reaching -16. The area last saw such cold in March 1951 at -35. March 1952 averaged higher at 6, while last year reached 13. Weather observer Ray Kely notes March total precipitation of 65 inches and the month's high of 60 degrees above.
A requiem high mass was held for Clinton Core Jr. 20 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. L G Broestl of South Bend as celebrant. Core, a Notre Dame junior, died in an automobile accident near Granger Indiana. Burial followed at Hillside Cemetery in Wyoming.
