Jury panel of sixty drawn for April term in district court

District Judge R M Hattersley and the Clerk of District Court formed a jury panel of 60 names at the March 23 session. Chateau High Bulldogs Track Team Seeks Strong Spring

Twenty five boys have turned out for Chateau High School track under coach Charles Peck. The Bulldog squad will compete in four meets beginning April 14 at home, then April 20 at Cut Bank, divisional at Shelby May 4, and final prep meet at Great Falls May 11 before the state meet. Event entries include Henneford Lohse Hanson in high jump. Dunckel Lohse in pole vault. Hanson, Depmer, Peterson, Carlson in weights. Howard Hanson Dunckel in javelin. Higgins Chalmers George in distance. Wilson Whipple sprints and 440. Wedum Howard Cherry Lohse Wilson in relay and sprint events.

Gene Henneford Installed as Master Councilor of DeMolay Chapter

Gene Henneford was installed as Master Councilor of the Teton Chapter DeMolay at its March 26 meeting. Officers named include Pete Howard as senior councilor and David Wedum as junior councilor, with preceptors Jack Schrock and Harold Yeager among others. Master Councilor Henneford, a Chateau senior, will serve a three month term and introduced his parents, with refreshments provided by the DeMolay Mother's club.

Western Express seeks ICC reversal on Chateau freight denial

A Western Express representative urged reopening of the Interstate Commerce Commission case after denial of their bid to haul interstate freight via Highway 89 through Chateau Montana. Petitions urged to Montana delegation. locals urged to sign at elevators and stores, citing Chateau as county seat with 2000 residents and 400 local workers, plus 600000 cultivated acres and strong agricultural output.

Choteau Jaycees Plan Kid's Fish Derby and Water Measure

The Choteau Junior Chamber of Commerce decides to bring flouridization of Choteau water to the council at the April 2 meeting and sponsors a Kid's Fish Derby on June 3 for ages 6 to 12. Two age divisions will award three prizes each, with the derby set on Spring Creek and boundaries to be announced.

Banquet at Church Tomorrow Night at Luther Church

The 1956 Father and Son event is planned for Friday night at the Lutheran church. Rev Mark Grandal will deliver the principal message and the Farm Bureau will present entertainment. Advance ticket sales suggest a good turnout. Walter Pardew will attend a Hotpoint service school in Butte on Monday and Tuesday.

Council Hears Health Official on Public Meeting Here

Chateau city council invited a State Board of Health representative to explain floorides in drinking water at a public meeting. The agenda also covered sidewalk installations, a 2 am closing request for bars, a new weed mower purchase plan, and an updated city map with water and sewer mains. The council set tonight 8 pm meeting with the building zone committee.

Choteau School Election to Elect Trustees and Levies

The Choteau annual school election on Saturday April 7 will elect two board members and consider two special levies. Polls open 12 to 6 p m at the elementary. Candidates include Al Jaumotte Eddie Heward Glen Steudt and Barney McClee with Jaumotte and Heward incumbents. The elementary levy is 7000 about three mills one mill less than last year. The Chateau high school district faces a 15000 levy about three mills one mill less than last year. Millage levels are to be set for both districts.

Red Cross Fund Campaign Lags in Teton County

The 1956 Red Cross drive in Teton County is about $1000 short of the $3200 goal, per county chairman K. M. Bridenstine. He urges solicitors to return completed pledges to treasurer Paul Mathis at once, noting more than half of funds stay in the county.

Officers and pastors wives from 146 WMF Societies of the Great Falls Circuit gather April 12 at 10 am for the Annual Workers Conference. Alice Layne of Minneapolis will speak, with Mrs Percy Peterson present. The circuit covers Lewistown and North Central Montana with 800 members.

Chateau high school gains two honors for its staff. Dominic Reed,Montana English teacher, chosen to help craft a new English curriculum and meet with the State Board on April 13 in Helena. March of Dimes Collects Over 3 599 in County

The March of Dimes campaign in Teton County raised 3399.36 with $1650 from Ogawam Farmington and $1133.80 from Chateau wine among other communities. Half funds stay in the local chapter for polio cases. the rest goes to national headquarters for research and polio programs. County Chair W. E. George Gunther Dies Following Heart Attack

Funeral services for George Jefferson Gunther 63 Teton County Clerk of the District Court will be held Saturday at 2 PM from the First Methodist church Rev Grant S Moore officiating Gunther died of a heart attack at his home yesterday after a 10 day illness He was born August 4 1892 in Oxford He came to Montana in 1926 and to Teton county in 1931 He married Lena Mozer Trescott May 2 1931 Surviving are two sons Stanley J Great Falls Jerry Lee Choteau two sisters Mina Conroy Streator Ill Marie Leedahl city He was a World War I veteran and a member of the American Legion and Choteau Odd Fellows Graveside rites will be attended by both groups Memorials are requested to Teton Memorial Hospital.
