Grade school launches junior labor program to aid Chateau homes with spring chores. Upper grade students available after school and Saturdays offer lawn work, gardening, window washing, child care, washing, ironing, and other tasks at set wages from 15 to 50 cents per hour. callers may arrange help 8:30–9 am and 12:30–2 pm.
Coach Clyde Carpenter and Max Worthington of Montana State plan to form a Teton County alumni organization. A noon meeting and 2 o clock no host luncheon are set at Beaupre cafe on Tuesday April 9. Alumni and former students are urged to attend and notify John L. Dunckel.
American Legion members resumed plans for a rodeo softball and baseball tournament at the regular meeting. The post went on record supporting compulsory military training as part of the agenda and finalized decisions at Legion hall on Monday night.
A special meeting of the Teton Memorial Hospital association is called for next Tuesday night April 9 at Legion hall. President Bob Davison leads the notice. A state wide petition seeks to place an initiative on the ballot in November to return half of auto license plate fees to cities for street and alley work. Counties must file petitions with at least eight percent of governor election votes and from 23 counties. Each signer must be a registered voter with address and precinct.
Dutton Firemen finished runners-up after a 37 42 loss in the final. Simms edged Con rad 42 41 to claim third with Fairfield Walier and Brady eliminated on Sunday. Amercan Legion post prize money totaled 30 20 and 10 for top teams as Al Hensley thanked participants and spectators. Proceeds support the Legion sports fund for a potential Choteau baseball team.
The Teton County Farmer's Mercantile Co. moved to a new quarters half a block south of the Gallatin elevator. The firm will sell gas oil greases stove and diesel fuel and will deal in tires and farm equipment. A 1942 model army tank truck will handle deliveries. Ray G. King will manage. Officials are Earl Hollar president ig Bauma vice president and Howard Truchot secretary treasurer.
Teton County raised about 4.49 million dollars in eight World War II bond drives from May 1942 to the Victory loan. It ranked eighth among 56 counties, exceeding quotas in every drive with percentages from 139 to 248. Leadership credited to Arnold Co Hanusa and others. a women’s division formed in 1942 with county vice-chairwomen named.
Chateau City council granted three permits in its Monday night session. W A Cherry won approval to remodel part of the Hansen apartments basement for a supplementary unit. Effie McDonald authorized to move a garage from lot 28 block 1 original town. A J Barton sanctioned to add a frame and stucco garage extension on lots 25-28 block 12 original townsite. Mayor Henry Robison and Aldermen Curtis Knudtzon and Scott attended.
The Montana state conference for county superintendents met in Helena with four Teton county representatives W. J. Shirley S. L. Dahl Owen Loftsgaarden and Mrs Muriel S Reiquam in attendance. Sessions covered administrative problems rural education and MEA delegates assembly discussed surplus commodities teacher tenure retirement tax education and school finance.
Out-of-town Afghan ticket holders are asked to send their tickets with the holders names to the Chateau Drue or Malone Pharmacy immediately, per the Teton Memorial Hospital association.

A committee chaired by Fred Woodward selected winners of Americanism essays from Chateau schools. In the senior group first place went to Bernice Smith, with John Rose second and Florence Cook third. In the junior group first place was Dale Jerome, Dorothy Foster second, Sherry Dorn third. Elizabeth Bruno received a special mention for a junior poem.
Teton County high school honors the Bulldogs with three new trophies for District 10 sub district and district championships and a divisional third place. The team won 24 of 31 games, totaling 1265 points, led by Dahlin and Scott, with juniors Olson and Rone among key contributors. three seniors graduate.
