Plans to Display New Ford Car Told at Tuesday Hospital Meeting

Teton Memorial Hospital association discussed distributing ticket shares for a Super Deluxe 1946 Ford car. The plan includes a three day Hi-Line tour and display at Shawver auction in Pendroy with trucks donated by Chateau residents. Buying shares continues with $2 each and July 4 closing date. A Melver spoke on Montana hospital funding.

Choteau Chamber to Elect Officials and Hatch Easter Egg Hunt

The Choteau Chamber of Commerce will elect officers at 8 pm next Tuesday at the Legion hall and conduct other business. It will sponsor an Easter egg hunt with Boy Scouts distributing eggs in the city park for ages 6 to 10 and hiding eggs on the courthouse lawn for ages 1 to 6, with prizes attached to some eggs.

Montana State College Coaches Meet Teton Alumni

Three Montana State college coaches Clyde Carpenter Brick Bredon and Lt Max Worthington met Choteau area alumni at the Beaupre cafe to discuss forming a Teton County MSU alumni club and keeping Montana high school athletes in state. They outlined spring practice starting April 20 and a fall football slate including BYU Utah State Montana State College plays at various venues. Attendees from Choteau included John Dunckel Rudolf Menghen Supt William Shirley Lt Dave Rice and others.

The Chateau Fire department will convene at the Legion Club rooms under the AKA office. Firemen are asked to attend at 8 o'clock this evening.

E. C. Al Hensley elected president at Thursday meeting. Henry Robison named vice president with Joe Briscoe as secretary treasurer. Bert Packer and Frank Stearns chosen directors. New benches and tee stands to be built. course improvements planned. Membership costs 325 annually with 10 assessed playing members. Outgoing officers noted.

What a Woman Should Know About Insurance Meeting

The Cha teau Woman's club will hold a meeting on April 16 at 8 p.m. in the grade school auditorium. An insurance expert will lead the program and officers will be elected. Refreshments will be arranged by Mrs. Howard Hanson, Mrs. Hal Ferris, Mrs. J. L. Dunckel, and Mrs. Bud Taylor.

Three Candidates Elected To School Board

A light vote Saturday decided three unopposed candidates for the District No. 1 school board. Elmer Erickson and C. G. Passmoore were reelected for three-year terms while Earl Hollar won a one-year term, succeeding Lee Roy Robinson who had been appointed last December after Roy Anderson died. George Jackson resigned as clerk. LeeRoy Robinson succeeds him.

Franklin Bailey Last Rites Held at Conrad

The funeral of Franklin H. Bailey of Conrad was held Tuesday April 9 at the Christian church in Conrad. He was the nephew of Mrs. Gay Franklin and well known locally. He was survived by his wife Barbara Loeffler Bailey. Attendants from Chateau included Gay Franklin Morris Franklin and Everett DeRusha.

Flying Service To Dust 7000 Acres Across Counties

Contracts for 7000 acres of crop dusting have been let to the Chateau Flying Service, Manager Bob Waltermire announced this week. 2500 acres in Teton, 900 in Pondera, 700 in Judith Basin, and 2000 in Idaho will be dusted, with additional fields in Cascade and Chouteau counties. One duster operates at the airport and another is expected soon as more dusters arrive.

Frieda Schroder announces a National Recreation Association training school to be held in Teton County during the third week in April. Leaders are urged to attend the two day meeting to enroll, and notified when dates are definite.

Masonic Lodges To Meet Here Saturday

The Teton Sunriver Welfare association of four towns will meet at Choteau for a social gathering and banquet. Lodges from Dutton Fairfield Augusta and Choteau assemble at the Masonic hall at 7 p.m. The dinner is by Eastern Star. J Van Tylegen of Great Falls is principal speaker.

VFW to Speed Surplus Sale Info for Veterans

The National Rehabilitation service of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and War Assets Corporation vow early advance notices on surplus auto equipment sales. VFW Commander Ab Moore of Chateau Post 4605 says this moves toward wider advance information for veterans and includes regional cooperation in 11 cities. Colonel Ijams, new VEW rehabilitation director, aims to push surplus details to VFW posts and districts to prevent late purchases.

Teton to Receive Up to 1500 Birds From State Board

At Helena the State Fish and Game Commission approved a plan to send 1000 to 1500 birds to Teton County for the coming year. Local attendees included Jess Gleason Earl Holler George O Hara and George P Moore who urged a county bird farm and a broader regional association to amplify requests. The group noted a warm reception and pledged joint action with nearby counties.

Fire Department Leads Largest Out-of-Town Delegation at Cut Bank Meet

The Choteau Fire Department sent the largest out-of-town group to the Cut Bank firemen's convention last Saturday with chiefs mayors and firemen from Dut ton Fairfield Conrad Walier Chester Sunburst Browning and Cut Bank. Cut Bank Fire Chief Sam Arnold welcomed attendees at 10 am. Herbert L. Olsen Spokane fire chief led a fire school noting fires cause greater yearly losses than World Wars I and II. sessions covered surveys insurance data and fire education. Other speakers included Secretary of State Sam W. Mitchell and State Fire Marshal Jack Carney with John J. Olmes as toastmaster.
