Bud Hamner Killed Today in Auto Accident
James Bud Hamner seventy of Melrose New Mexico and Mary Maude Hightower of Melrose died in a noon southeast Amarillo crash in Randall County. Funeral arrangements are pending with Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home. Survivors include a sister Cecil Gardner and H L Hamner of Childress plus two more sisters.

Durbin Murder Trial Set For July Start
In Austin the Travis County murder case of Clyde Durbin Jr. likely will begin in July after the Texas Supreme Court ruled the trial must start before August 1. Prosecutors and defense agreed a June start was impossible due to 500 prospective jurors and pretrial hearings. Durbin faces a second murder trial in Burnet County for the slayings of John Albert White and Keitha Morris at a popular picnic site near Austin. White was found shot and beaten in Bull Creek.
