Texas Crops Responding To Favorable Moisture Conditions

The USDA reported crops across Texas show a remarkable response to unusually favorable moisture. Subsoil moisture improves in eastern Texas as Western regions report good growth, while South Texas and the Lower Rio Grande Valley remain dry with some grazing salvage. Severe grasshopper damage in several blackland counties and hail plus heavy rains interrupting wheat and other crops are noted, but overall prospects for cotton, corn, hay, and vegetables remain favorable with need for open weather for curing and cultivation.
