Violent Weather Strikes West Texas With Tornadoes and Hail
A line of storms whipped West Texas with tornadoes, high winds, and hail, damaging buildings and crops and injuring several. The Abilene area saw the greatest violence with four inches of rain and a tornado that destroyed the Rob erts farm home but left the residents unharmed. Forecasters warned more storms would form later, affecting North Central and East Texas as well as the region near Roby and Sylvester.

One Killed Four Injured In Union Pacific Train Wreck
A Union Pacific Challenger derailed at a bridge washout near Fort Morgan Colorado killing electrician George F Hobusch Jr and injuring four others including three crew members and a female passenger. The train en route Chicago to Los Angeles detoured due to Wyoming detours and struck at 430 a m local time.
