Farmers Vote on 1956 Cotton Marketing Quotas Due
Cotton growers in 21 states cast ballots on whether to keep marketing quotas for the 1956 crop. About 1.3 million farmers were eligible. The referendum, ordered by Ezra T. Two Charged With Aggravated Assault
Andrew Brown of Childress and Dewey Grant Jr. of Streetmen, both described as Negroes, were charged in County Court with aggravated assault. Cold front to dip Texas temperatures with dust worries
A Canadian cold front crossed into the Texas Panhandle Tuesday and was forecast to move eastward, with temperatures dropping to about 15 degrees in the Panhandle and South Plains tonight. Gusty winds of up to 40 mph were reported in Abilene and 29 mph in Fort Worth, likely to stir blowing dust, while the front was expected to weaken and largely spare areas south of a Childress to Dallas line.

Public Meeting On Schools Set For January 12
The Board of Trustees plans a 7 PM mass meeting January 12 at the High School auditorium to discuss the Childress school system with invites to City Council police civic groups PTA pastors and others. School will start after Labor Day next year to align with the CBCD plan, and a census will be taken again through the schools.
