Estelline Student Killed In Canyon Crash
Winifred Doyle Russell, 20, an Estelline youth and West Texas State College junior, died in a collision with a Greyhound bus about 9 15 last night north of the Canyon underpass. Another W T State student died and two were critically injured. Russell, son of Mr and Mrs Barney Russell, was president of the junior class and an honor student. he was a graduate of Estelline High School. Funeral arrangements were not known at press time.

Longtime Childress County resident Mrs. Margaret Dyer Childs died at Childress General Hospital about 5 45 Tuesday afternoon. She was 72. Funeral services are set for 2 PM Thursday at Southside Baptist Church with Rev Ira L Parrack officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery under Newberry Funeral Home direction. She was born April 23 1883 in Corsicana Texas and moved to Childress in 1910. Survivors include eight daughters and two sons.

Omaha detectives questioned three new suspects in the murder of Carolyn Marie Nevins a 20 year old Omaha University coed. Police said the men could not detail their whereabouts last Friday night when she was shot four times and left on campus. Faculty members are being questioned and lie detector tests may be used. Dr Mille Bail university president urged cooperation and offered to take a lie test. Detectives on extra hours schedule cited the Friday night Elmwood Park area as the trio’s claimed drive to sober up a drunken friend from a bus depot.
