Injunction Halts Florida Fruit Grade Markings Case
Orlando Florida April 14 a federal injunction granted to Luther T Johnson a Pennsylvania grower and shipper allows ten days of unstamped Florida citrus shipments. The order shields him from state and federal grade stamping taxes inspections and advertising assessments and exempts him from the marketing agreement costs. Industry reaction split with warnings that future citrus laws may be undermined while some expect the courts will uphold state and federal rules. Johnson has operated northern retail stores shipping fruit to himself and competing with retailers.
