London reports a British expert states the machine gun became the war’s most efficient weapon. It describes models like Lewis and Vickers, their mobility, rapid fire, and the deadly effect on advancing troops, with claims of high rates of fire and decisive battlefield impact.
New York May 20 The Yankees face a weak pitching staff unless Miller Huggins can add a quality pitcher. Caldwell Mogridge and Russell have been disappointing with wild spells and aging. Thormahlen and Love form the nucleus of a newer staff as Rudolph weighs a possible Braves switch.
At the war's start the British army had two machine guns per infantry battalion. That ratio has risen significantly. A special machine gun corps has been formed to manage the expanded armament and tactics.
New England colleges will admit at least some war workers who lost part of the school year. A Connecticut Schoalmasters club report says colleges will accept qualified students delayed by agricultural or industrial work. Harvard and Yale are noted as included in the allowance. Also a job ad for an experienced housekeeper is listed.

The Indagan farm school in Sulu, established by American philanthropist Mrs. Lorillard Spencer of Newport, R I, operates on 40 acres with three buildings and 40 students in training. The Philadelphia Review praises the program as a major step toward liberal education and national progress for Filipinos and the government.
Delta Gamma members in the United States and Canada contribute 1000 to aid Belgian children and launch a campaign to raise ten thousand dollars by forming a mile of dimes. Lambda Nu at the University of Minnesota suggested the plan and Mrs Jowsie Wharton Robertson leads the effort aiming to exceed the standard mile value and reach nineteen thousand dollars. A private household help ad closes the item.
Notice states there will be no special stockholders meeting at the Cheyenne office on Saturday June 15 1916 at 1 50 pm. The meeting aimed to consider a proposed amendment to Article IV to increase directors from five to seven. Signed M ALT KEN President.
