Police investigated a near carnival boulevard shooting that struck 12 year old Dorothy Shannon in the arm and grazed Mrs. O M Robertson on Thames street. Powder burns suggested a very close range but no suspect was located and the girl was treated and resting well.

Visalia Cal June 16 George A Wiswall 38 manager for an Arizona cattle firm was killed when his motor truck collided with a Southern Pacific locomotive at a crossing in Tipton. His wife and two children witnessed the crash.
Six officers of the Kansas branch of the United Mine Workers were found guilty of contempt in Crawford county district court and sentenced to jail until they testify in state court. Names include James Mellwrath H H Maxwell Thomas Cunningham John Steele Willard Tills and John Fleming. A stay of execution was granted on bonds of 2000 each as the case awaits appeal to the Kansas Supreme Court.
Inquiry across the White House state department and Capitol today failed to reveal action on the water power bill. Officials indicated the measure remained at the White House with no official word, while clerks at the Capitol said no decision had been announced.
Dennis H. Sutter, 74, resident of Sunshine Dairy Farm owned by Charles D. Carey, died yesterday morning at the farm. A Ta bor, Iowa native, he lived in Gheyenne six years and funeral services are set for this afternoon at Early Bricker Brothers mortuary with Rev. Lund officiating. He leaves two sons J. C. Sutter of Horse Creek and Ralph Sutter of Tabor Iowa and two daughters Mrs. Tareasea Garvin of this city and Mrs. Lorie Laird of Sidney Iowa. His body will be sent to Tabor after services.
Moscow dispatch reports Denikine's troops and White government soldiers have occupied Batum, attacked the Georgian army, and sparked protests as Georgians arrest Entente mission members in Tiflis. British evacuation from Batum had been announced a few days earlier.

Cheyenne's water system earned a strong appraisal from a national board of engineers. L A Barley of the Rocky Mountain Fire Underwriters' Association reports the system met required flow in high valued districts and delivered residential pressure of twenty five pounds over the required fifty.
Theodore A. Huntiley, a Wyoming newspaper man with a record at Sheridan Post, Billings Gazette, and Chicago Tribune, travels from Chicago after covering the Republican convention to San Francisco for the Democratic convention. He is nephew of Col. William H. Huntley of the Casper Tribune.
OMAMA June 16 Helen Bonham known as Miss Wyoming and Frontier Days poster girl arrived in the east as a messenger for Governor Carey carrying invitations to cast members. Mayor E P Smith hosted her luncheon at Fontenelle hotel before she left for Chicago to preside at a livestock men dinner and plan a lobby ride at a major hotel with Mayor Thompson awaiting.
Morristown Pa June 16 Major C T Larzelere attorney for the Coughlin family says revenge rather than ransom likely prompted the kidnapping of 13 month old Blakley Coughlin from his crib two weeks ago. Police Chief Charles Miler reports a definite clue and expects results within 24 hours. The Crank signed letters demanding 842000 ransom were handed to postal authorities.
The Interstate Commerce Commission ordered an investigation into telegraph companies practices for damages from errors or delays in message transmission. Complaints cite liability limits. All common carriers in telegraph transmission are respondents. Hearings set in New York on July 26.
Judge John A. Hiner dismissed the $30,000 damage suit by George W. Praeger against First National Bank of New Castle. The afternoon session covered demurrers in Commerce State Bank v Wheeler Askew and a civil action by Charles W. Thurninger against Joseph L. Kidwell.

Cole travels to Columbus to meet Harry Daugherty about returning unspent 4250 from Harding campaign. Robert B Moore says he returned 2590 of Lowden funds. Nate Goldstein reports returning 2500.
Granulated sugar climbed two cents per pound in Montreal on June 16. The wholesale price reaches 21 cents a pound as refiners cite high raw sugar costs and refining expenses with no further statements.
London reports the allies intend to withdraw the Turkish draft treaty after protests by the Turkish grand vizier in Paris. The Daily Mail cites informed quarters claiming the supreme council will abandon the draft.

Nathan William MacChesney chairman of the Leonard Wood campaign in Illinois calls Dr Nicholas Murray Butler's claim about campaign backing wholly untrue.
