In Duluth Minnesota on June 15 a mob estimated at 5,000 overpowered police, seized three accused men, and held a mock trial at the city hall. Three were found guilty while three others were acquitted. One lynching occurred near First Street and Second Avenue East.

James Clark fifty well known sheepman was mortally wounded in his room in a Douglas business block at 12 30 pm by Roy Brenning an automobile mechanic The shooting occurred in the presence of Brennings wife and their 16 year old daughter Brenning claims self defense aided by evidence of a misfired cartridge found in Clarks revolver The inquest began Brenning surrendered Clark died three hours after in the hospital The Brennings had consented to their daughters marriage six months earlier amid age disputes which fed the quarrel leading to the fatal confrontation
Nat Goldstein of St Louis, a delegate to the Republican National Convention, said he returned 2500 dollars given to support Governor Lowden. He testified he handed the money to a person close to campaign manager L L Emerson before leaving Chicago. Robert E Moore of St Louis, another recipient, also received 2500 dollars and said the funds would be returned if Lowden was not nominated.
El Monitor reports Judge Luis Gacho of Tia Juana ordered Jack Johnson to depart Mexico within 80 days from June 9 for mistreating Mexican girls including his wife's maid. Governor Esteban Cantu approved, and if Johnson stays past July 5 he will be handed to U S authorities for Mann Act violation.
More than 5000 signatures collected in Oregon urging United States Senator William W Johnson to repudiate the Chicago platform and enter the presidency as an independent. Portland attorney W P Adams says the telegram represents many Johnson backers from Oregon and New York petitions are also being circulated. Johnson has not commented.

Planks include taxing idle land and expanding workers’ involvement in industry with full free speech. Likely candidates named include La Follette Kazier Walsh and Clark.
