Flow of Poudre Shatters Records
On July 10 1916 the Cache la Poudre irrigation system began drawing water from its reservoirs for irrigation. ByTuesday the system pulled about 570 second feet from the Poudre and at least 2060 more second feet were passing the intake northwest of Windsor. Officers say the free irrigation supply may continue and has surpassed all prior expectations. For over twenty six days prior the company drew at least 400 second feet daily despite no rainfall. Secretary Morse noted farmers are using the large flow, with dry weather making land absorb water quickly and irrigators in constant demand.
