Fire destroys century of census records in Washington vaults
Valuable census records from 1790 through 1910 were destroyed in a basement fire at the department of commerce. The 1920 data remained safe on an upper floor. Officials said replacement is impossible and loss affects draft, tax, treasury, and citizenship records. Three firefighters were overcome by smoke, including Frank Newman. James Foster, the watchman who found the blaze, reported extensive smoke in the carpenter shop and engine room.

Riverton Fatal Shooting Tied to Wanted Man Mistaken Identity
Nick Siganovich, a Gebo coal miner, was killed in Riverton after Undersheriff John Burch and Special Deputy Jasper Burch mistook him for Pete Haines. Funeral for Denver Chief of Police Armstrong Planned
