Paris Suburban Lines to Be Electrified
Electrification of the Paris suburban rail service, planned in 1910 and delayed by war, is advancing on state lines and expected to finish within two years. Power stations exist and wires cover much of the routes, but electric locomotives and equipment are not yet ready. Nearby stations will first receive electric trains while farther points remain on steam. The move aims to reduce congestion on suburban lines.
