Fire destroys Gething Centre in Hudsons Hope

A weekend fire razed the Gething Diagnostic and Treatment Centre in Hudsons Hope on September 23. No injuries occurred as staff and records were partially recovered. officials blame electrical problems. City officials plan temporary basement operations and potential Wednesday reopening with regional hospital support.

Co Generation Plan Dies In Chetwynd Budget Setback

Chetwynd council halted a co generation study using waste wood from Taylor Fort Saint John and Chetwynd after BC Hydro rejected the proposal as non binding. Costs escalated from 45000 to 80000 and funding dwindled as West Fraser and Fiberco reduced backing. Mayor Barb Shirley says the project may reappear if burners close and markets shift, but risks losing local jobs.
