Healthy Communities project seeks funding in Chetwynd
The Healthy Communities initiative in Chetwynd seeks 3000 for the rest of this year and 5000 for 1996 from the district council. The group operates on about 36000, with 5000 yearly from the Peace River Regional District and the province funding the remainder. The district also provides in kind support like office space at the Airport and equipment for Paula Schmidt. The program aims to address broad health factors beyond medicine and to help residents drive local health improvements. Planned projects include a community van for seniors and disabled people and a barter system for the area.
