Northern B C resident aids meteorite study of universe
A 46 year old northern B C pilot Jim Brook who runs Osprey Air and Brooklands Wilderness Camp near Atlin found meteorite debris on a frozen Tagish Lake and froze two pounds of it. His action enabled scientists to study pristine material from the solar system, drawing praise from researchers worldwide. Dozens of meteorite scientists requested samples and expeditions were launched to collect more fragments, though contamination risk reduced usable material. Brook’s simple precaution is lauded as advancing knowledge of planetary formation.
