BC permit values show monthly drop after prior spike
Building permits issued by BC municipalities fell 30.6 per cent in September after a 33.3 per cent rise the prior month. Residential permits dropped 41.4 per cent and non residential 15.5 per cent, with institutional and government projects down 43.4 per cent. Saskatchewan and New Brunswick also posted large declines. year to date BC permits are down 2.5 per cent unadjusted. New housing prices in Victoria and Vancouver eased in September. Permit totals for Fort St John and other areas are listed for 2000.
