Weekly Mortgages Offer Fast Path To Home Ownership
Garth Turner explains how some Canadian credit unions offered weekly mortgage payments during 1981 82, reducing interest and allowing faster principal payoff. By paying weekly rather than monthly, borrowers effectively make one extra payment a year, cutting years off the loan and saving tens of thousands in interest. The piece notes rising rates 22 percent and suggests consulting lenders or lawyers for private weekly mortgage arrangements.
