Glencore advances Sukunka coal project studies near Chetwynd
Glencore wraps up two year field studies for the Sukunka coal mine 55 km south of Chetwynd and 40 km west of Tumbler Ridge. The plan includes surface and underground mining with a processing plant to produce washed coal for export, starting at 1.5 to 2.5 million tonnes annually and rising to about 6 million tonnes once underground mining begins. The project aims for a 20 plus year life and is in pre application with BC Environmental Assessment Office.
