Happy Hour Rules Come Into Effect in British Columbia Pub Scene
New liquor laws in British Columbia allow bars and pubs to offer time-limited drink specials for the first time. Minimum prices are set at 3 dollars for a single ounce cocktail, 5 ounces of wine, or a 12 ounce beer. The changes remove the food order requirement with drinks, let hosts with special occasion licenses serve homemade and U brew beverages, and enable price variation throughout the day to attract customers during slow periods.

Chetwynd mayor and council approved 200000 for the first phase of upgrades to the wastewater treatment facility. The plan splits work into two phases with a preload of three metres of compacted fill this summer followed by the formal upgrade next year after soil stabilization. The district aims to start preload using local funds to avoid delays in grant funding. The Water and Sewer Committee endorsed the preload on June 13 with council approval on June 16, 2014.
