Who fathered Father's Day anyway
The article traces the origins of Father's Day from Mrs. John Bruce Dodd who, in 1909, proposed a day to honor her father and other fathers. It notes Spokane efforts, a 1910 first observance on the third Sunday of June, and the 1971 Congressional act making it a national holiday. It also mentions competing claims from Fairmont and Grafton, West Virginia, but confirms the recognized date.
