Hospitals and association sign 1978 contract agreement
The Health Labour Relations Association of B C and the Professional Association of Interns and Residents of B C announce a new collective agreement for 1978. Six teaching hospitals Vancouver General Royal Jubilee Royal Columbian St Pauls Shaughnessy and G F Strong Rehabilitation Centre ratified a one year contract starting January 1 1978 under ALB guidelines at four percent with a special 1st year intern rate adjustment a new deduction formula and improved conditions for P A R I members.

Police report multiple incidents including broken front screen door windows on Dokkie road, missing horses from Willow Flats and Hasler Flats, a stolen wallet in the Chetwynd area, stray horse found on Hasler Flats, hotel room break ins at the Chetwynd Hotel, a theft at the Azouetta tunnel of a generating plant and culvert materials, and a Yamaha motorcycle theft from Marion Hoover’s business lot. Region H queen contest cancelled for lack of entries
The search to crown Region H queen for the PNE this fall was cancelled after only four community entries were received, short of the six needed. PRAHTA and Peace River Chambers ran the contest after Regional District took over the franchise from Dawson Creek. Lions Club in Chetwynd offered to sponsor a candidate if it proceeded.
