The ConocoPhillips sweet gas well outside Tumbler Ridge, which began burning on December 9 2007, has ceased flow. After weeks as a level three emergency, it was downgraded to level two on December 24, and by January 3 crews shut in and stopped the flare. The company plans to cement the well to permanently isolate and abandon it.
