Higher heating costs hit BC as Terasen raises rates
Fort St John reports a four per cent increase in home heating costs after the BC Utilities Commission approved Terasen Gas rate hikes. Annual bills will rise by 43 to 51 dollars, with the monthly charge up 19 cents to 11.13. Regional variations push northern and coastal areas higher, while BC Hydro warns under-recovery of storage and transport costs. Officials urge conservation, noting a 3 to 4 degree drop can save about 15 per cent.
