World Organization of the Scout Movement Wins Peace Prize
UNESCO awards the 1981 Peace Education Prize to the World Organization of the Scout Movement, first recipient of the prize. It is shared with Helena Kekkonen of Finland for advancements in education. Dr Abdullah Nasseef of King Abdulaziz University nominated the Scout Movement. a nine member international jury selected the winners.

Flags at Remembrance Day Dedication for Girl Guides in Chetwynd
Eight flags were dedicated by the Girl Guides of Canada Chetwynd District on November 11 1981. The 75th Anniversary year 1982 1983 will see stamps issued by at least 80 countries and territories. Eighteen girls from Brownies Guides and Pathfinders took part while Fr Jungbluth led the Remembrance Day ceremony at Legion Hall. Royal Canadian Legion Branch 2098 and Ladies Auxiliary sponsor Scouting and Guiding in Chetwynd.
